Job summary

Tilbury Douglas in Exeter, South West, invites graduates to start their civil engineering career on real projects. You'll gain hands-on experience from day one, supporting planning, coordination and delivery of civil activities on site in Exeter and wider South West Water region.

The two-year Graduate Development Programme includes mentoring from senior engineers, ICE accreditation support, and a clear path to Incorporated or Chartered status, with a competitive salary and benefits package,

Qualifications

• A degree, or expect to graduate in 2027, in Civil Engineering or related field (2:2 or above).
• Full UK driving licence, or working toward one by February 2027.
• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills with a proactive mindset.
• Good written and verbal communication across diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning, coordination and delivery of civil engineering activities.
• Support setting out, surveying and engineering control on site.
• Interpret drawings and technical information into practical site actions.
• Assist with method statements, risk assessments, ITPs and other docs.
• Monitor works to ensure safety, quality and efficiency.
• Support quality inspections and maintain engineering records.
• Collaborate with site, design, commercial and supply chain teams.
• Liaise with designers and subcontractors to support delivery.
• Track progress and understand interactions with programme and cost.
• Develop understanding of temporary works, buildability and modern methods.
