Job summary

Amey invites graduates to join its CAFA team in York as a Graduate Civil Engineer. You will contribute to railway structures assessments and inspections across the UK, developing skills in structural analysis and reporting.

Starting salary is £30,000 per annum with a September 2027 start date, 37.5 hours per week, and occasional weekend site work. A full UK driving licence and PTS are required.

• Minimum 2:2 degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Personal Track Safety (PTS) requirement and PTS medical pass.

• Undertake numerical analysis and assessment calculations to determine the structural load carrying capacity of a variety of structures.
• Propose strengthening and maintenance options.
• Plan and undertake bridge inspections to confirm structural details and condition.
• Develop innovative solutions to enhance inspection and technical capabilities.
• Prepare technical drawings and reports.

About The Team

Join our supportive and inclusive team within CAFA, where you will work on projects that make a real difference to communities across the UK. As part of our Structures Assessment Team based in Liverpool, York, Crawley or Cardiff, you’ll have the opportunity to be part of a national team that undertakes the inspections and structural assessment of a wide variety of railway structures, from bridges carrying trains over roads and waterways, to highway and footbridges crossing the railway, as well as station canopies and train sheds. These structures are part of the heritage of our country, and we need to ensure that they are safe to meet today’s needs as well as tomorrow’s.

What You Will Do
