Job summary

Penguin Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Graduate Civil Engineer to gain design experience across civil and structural projects in the Rotherham area. The role offers mentoring from experienced engineers and exposure to a variety of project types beyond rail infrastructure.

You will assist with designs and calculations, prepare notes and reports, review drawings, coordinate design work, and attend site visits. A civil related degree or HNC/HND is required, with good communication and teamwork

Qualifications

• Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
• A sound understanding of core engineering principles.
• Interest in developing practical design experience across varied projects.
• Familiarity with UK design standards and Eurocodes, or willingness to learn.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to organise workloads and work effectively within a team.

Are you a Graduate Civil Engineer looking to build your design experience across a varied range of civil and structural engineering projects? This is an opportunity to join a multidisciplinary consultancy where you can develop your technical skills with support from experienced engineers.

The Rotherham team works across a broad project portfolio, including residential development and other civil and structural engineering schemes. This offers the chance to gain exposure to different project types rather than focusing exclusively on rail infrastructure.

The Graduate Civil Engineer role will include:

• Assisting with civil and structural engineering designs and calculations

• Preparing technical notes, specifications and engineering reports

• Producing and reviewing drawings and design information

• Supporting design coordination and project delivery

• Attending site visits, surveys and inspections where required

• Working with engineers, technicians, project managers and other disciplines

The Graduate Civil Engineer should have:
