Job summary

Groundforce Shorco is seeking a Graduate Civil Engineer to join the technical shoring team. You will design temporary works, produce construction stage drawings and collaborate with sales and operations to deliver projects on time and within budget.

You will work under the Design Manager and develop expertise in governing standards, Eurocodes and geotechnical theory while advancing your skills with in-house and external training opportunities.

Qualifications

• Civil Engineering degree (BSc/BEng/MEng) with 2:1 or above.
• Mathematics and geotechnics knowledge required.
• Knowledge of Eurocode 3/7 is desirable.
• Experience with structural design and retaining walls is a plus.
• Software familiarity with AutoCAD and Revit is expected.

Responsibilities

• Produce preliminary and construction stage designs for shoring works.
• Create design drawings using AutoCAD and Revit.
• Support other technical teams as needed to meet deadlines.
• Collaborate with sales and operations to deliver projects on time and within budget.
• Contribute to development of new tools and improve design efficiency.
• Maintain and update Groundforce’s online design tools.

Job Introduction

Groundforce Shorco (GFS) are currently looking to add to our technical shoring team through the appointment of a Graduate Civil Engineer. This is a chance to join a collaborative team, completing temporary works designs using our vast range of proprietary equipment. You will report directly to the Design Manager, who will oversee your workload, training and development. You will work directly with those in your team as well as your peers in the wider technical department.

Key Responsibilities

• Producing preliminary and construction stage designs in a timely manner in accordance with approved codes of practice and legislation (CIRIA publications, BS5950, Eurocode 3 and 7). These will predominately be shoring (ground support) temporary works designs;
• Producing design drawings using Autodesk AutoCAD & Revit;
• Assist with the workload of the other technical teams as required;
• Liaise and Collaborate with our sales and operations teams to ensure successful project delivery within time and budget constraints.
• Helping support in the production of new tools and software for the technical team to drive efficiencies and save time;
• Helping to maintain and update Groundforce’s online suite of design tools;

What We’re Looking For

You will have graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering (Bsc, BEng or MEng, 2:1 or above) or similar discipline;

You Will Have Studied, Or Have Experience Of

• Engineering mathematics (Required)
• Geotechnics, including Rankine’s Theory (Required)
• Structural steel design including simple beam mechanics (Required)
• Eurocode 3 and 7 (Desirable)
• Retaining wall design (Desirable)
• Structural and stress mechanics (Desirable)
