Job summary

Groundforce Shorco is seeking a Shoring Design Engineer to join the team responsible for creating temporary works solutions and high quality design documentation. You will interface with customers and internal teams to deliver designs that meet project requirements and safety standards.

The role requires a Civil/Structural Engineering degree, AutoCAD expertise, and knowledge of structural analysis tools; ICE accreditation or progress toward it is desirable.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil and/or Structural Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience in the construction industry is preferred.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and MS Office is required.
• Knowledge of Groundforce products or similar propping systems is desirable.
• ICE membership or progress toward professional qualification is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Prepare tender proposals and design documents in a timely manner.
• Follow department procedures to ensure smooth design processes.
• Collaborate with customers, Hire Desk, Sales and Operations teams to meet time and budget constraints.
• Assist other technical teams and manage workload effectively.

Job description

Groundforce Shorco operates a fleet of rental equipment, largely comprising of structural support products, designed and arranged into configurations to provide temporary works solutions for our clients. The solutions can range in size from high frequency smaller schemes to bespoke large basement propping schemes. The business also develops new products and processes to remain competitive in the market.

In this role, you will be part of the Shoring Design Team, creating and developing temporary works solutions and preparing high quality design documentation that both assist and enhance the output across the entire department.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparing tender proposals, preliminary and construction stage designs in a timely manner, in accordance with approved codes of practice and legislation
• Following the Technical department procedures to ensure a smooth design process
• Liaising and collaborating with customers, Hire Desk, Sales and Operation teams to ensure successful project delivery within time and budget constraints
• Working closely with the other technical teams to assist with the workload as required
• Providing support and guidance to other team members and developing systems/processes that maintain consistency throughout
• Undertaking specific project work as required and being able to manage own workload and time effectively
• Communicating effectively and contributing proactively in meetings and discussions
• Leading on innovation and taking responsibility for developing best practices for new ways of working

The Ideal Candidate

• Solving problems is your passion; you like to create and produce accurate work and take a pride in what you do
• You are a team player, keen to support other team members and to drive forward continuous improvements using your own ideas to improve the quality of drawing and design packages
• Previous experience in a similar role, ideally within the construction industry; the specifics of the job role is flexible and will depend upon experience and qualifications
• Qualifications:Degree in Civil and/or Structural Engineering BEng, MEng, BSc, Msc etc. or equivalent OR HND with Eng Tech MICE and 4 years relevant experience
• Experienced user of Autodesk AutoCAD, MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams etc.)
• Previous experience and good understanding of structural analysis software (CADS A3D MAX, Tekla Tedds, Robot, SAP2000 etc.)
• Good knowledge of Revit is desirable
• Knowledge of Groundforce product range or experience with the use and/or configuration of similar proprietary products is desirable
• Member of ICE or working towards professional qualification is desirable
