Turn this role into an interview — a resume and cover letter built around what this employer wants.
PACE Mechanical Handling in Spalding is seeking a Graduate CAD Design Engineer to turn concepts into practical machinery using Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD and Vault. You’ll design bespoke robotic handling systems and work with engineers to develop from CAD model to working equipment.
Join a hands-on engineering environment, starting salary £25,000, onsite five days a week, with opportunities to learn across robotics, automation, and manufacturing processes.
If you're starting your engineering career and want to do more than sit behind a screen producing drawings, this could be a brilliant place to begin.
At PACE Mechanical Handling, we design and build bespoke robotic handling and automation systems that help businesses move, pack, weigh and palletise products faster, smarter and more efficiently.
Founded in 1996, we're a successful family-run British engineering business combining mechanical engineering, fabrication, robotics and software to create complete automation solutions.
We're now looking for a Graduate CAD Design Engineer who loves mechanical design, enjoys solving problems and wants to develop in a practical engineering environment where you'll see your designs progress from CAD model to working machinery.

Design It. Develop It. See It Come to Life.
In its simplest form, this is robot systems design engineering.
Working alongside experienced mechanical, electrical, fabrication and robotics specialists, you'll help design bespoke automated machinery and handling systems, producing accurate 3D models, assemblies and engineering drawings using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD.
You’ll turn engineering concepts into practical, manufacturable designs, maintaining accurate drawings, revisions and engineering data through Autodesk Vault. You’ll also work closely with the technical teams building and assembling the machinery, giving you valuable exposure to how your designs perform in the real world.
You're likely a recent Mechanical Engineering, Product Design Engineering, Mechatronics or similarly relevant engineering graduate, or someone with equivalent technical training ready to begin their design engineering career.
You’ll already have practical experience with Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD, together with experience or a good understanding of Autodesk Vault / CAD data management. This could have been developed through university, placements, internships, projects or early-career engineering experience.
More importantly, you’ll enjoy figuring out how things work. You’ll bring good mechanical understanding, attention to detail and a logical approach to problem-solving, along with the commitment and curiosity to keep developing your skills.
University projects, Formula Student, robotics projects, placements or other practical engineering experience will be particularly interesting where they demonstrate your CAD and mechanical design capability.
You’ll need a driving licence, be comfortable working fully onsite and happy with PACE’s 07:30 start.
PACE is built around practical engineering, teamwork and pride in doing things properly.
You’ll join a supportive environment where people are encouraged to take ownership, share ideas and continuously improve. You’ll have the opportunity to learn from experienced engineers while working with advanced robotic technology, including Yaskawa Motoman robots, across real customer automation projects.
You’ll see the complete engineering journey from CAD design through fabrication, assembly and integration to a finished robotic system.
For someone looking to become a rounded mechanical design engineer rather than simply a CAD operator, it’s an exciting place to start.
If you're excited by mechanical design, robotics and automation and want to see the things you design become reality, we'd love to hear from you.
