Job description

Graduate Acoustic Consultant

Penguin Recruitment is working with an established acoustic consultancy to find a Graduate Acoustic Consultant to join their growing team.

This is a great opportunity for a graduate looking to get their foot in the door within the acoustics industry and gain experience across a genuinely varied range of projects.

The company works across environmental noise, building acoustics and noise control, supporting clients throughout the development process. Their work covers everything from carrying out noise surveys and preparing technical reports through to helping develop practical solutions to complex acoustic issues.

The successful candidate will be joining an experienced team and will have the opportunity to work on projects across a range of sectors, including residential, commercial, industrial, education and infrastructure.

The Role

As a Graduate Acoustic Consultant, you will be involved in a mixture of site and office-based work. You will work alongside experienced consultants and gradually take on more responsibility as your technical knowledge and experience develop.

Duties are likely to include:

  • Carrying out environmental and industrial noise surveys.
  • Assisting with noise and vibration monitoring.
  • Analysing survey data and preparing technical reports.
  • Supporting planning and environmental noise assessments.
  • Assisting with acoustic calculations and modelling.
  • Working on building and architectural acoustics projects.
  • Supporting senior members of the team with project delivery.
  • Developing an understanding of practical noise control and mitigation measures.

One of the main attractions of this opportunity is the variety of work available. The company is involved not only in assessing noise issues but also in helping to develop and deliver practical solutions, giving graduates the chance to gain a broader understanding of how acoustic consultancy works in practice.

You will have exposure to different types of projects and will work alongside experienced acoustic consultants and technical specialists. This makes the role particularly well suited to someone who wants to build a solid foundation in acoustics rather than being limited to one specific area.

About You

The company is looking for someone with a relevant degree in a subject such as:

  • Acoustics
  • Physics
  • Engineering
  • Environmental Science
  • A related scientific or technical discipline

You should also have:

  • A genuine interest in acoustics, noise and vibration.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • A willingness to learn and develop.
  • The ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Good attention to detail.

A full UK driving licence would be beneficial due to the site-based nature of some of the work.

What's on Offer?

The successful candidate will receive a competitive starting salary, benefits and ongoing training and support.

More importantly, this is an opportunity to join a company where you can gain experience across a broad range of acoustic work and learn from people with extensive industry experience. There will be plenty of opportunity to develop technically and progress as your experience grows.
