Job summary

Rapiscan Systems in the United Kingdom seeks a Graduate Accelerator Scientist to join the Cargo Research Team and help translate research into practical security screening solutions.

You will commission, verify and validate linear accelerators, analyse performance with Excel and MATLAB, and contribute to the development of next-generation accelerator technologies within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.

Qualifications

• Degree or postgraduate qualification in Physics, Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience gained through academic projects, placements or research.
• Proficiency in data analysis tools including Excel and MATLAB.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication within multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Commission, verify and validate linear accelerators and associated components.
• Analyse system performance and provide feedback to research and engineering teams.
• Maintain accurate records of testing activities and support documentation release through Agile processes.
• Contribute to the design, development and continuous improvement of accelerator technologies.
• Support product quality assurance activities and root cause investigations.
• Participate in technical training, demonstrations and knowledge-sharing activities.
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative solutions.
