Job summary

Kisharon Noe School in London is seeking a Teaching Assistant Grade 1 to support learning and development for children with diverse needs. You will assist with classroom preparation, reading activities, and behaviour support under senior staff guidance.

The role emphasizes pastoral care, recording progress, and collaboration with teachers and parents. Term-time, 35 hours per week, with a special SEN allowance included, providing a meaningful impact on pupils' lives.

Qualifications

  • Experience working in a school or similar educational setting.
  • Experience of working with children and young people with special educational needs and/or social, emotional and mental health difficulties.
  • Experience of using restorative practices.
  • Ability to support pupils with strategies to enable them to settle to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Establish positive relationships with pupils and respond to individual needs.
  • Attend to pupils' personal needs including social, health, physical, hygiene and welfare matters.
  • Supervise and support pupils to ensure safety and access to learning.
  • Support pupils to access learning activities as directed by the teacher and in line with their learning plans.
  • Prepare classroom learning environments, assist with displays and manage resources.
  • Support the teacher in managing pupil behaviour.
  • Liaise with parents and carers as agreed with the teacher.
  • Monitor pupil progress, welfare and behaviour and report to the teacher.
  • Support pupils to access the curriculum, particularly reading and ICT.
  • Supervise pupils during lunch, breaks, visits and out of school activities.
  • Maintain and update records and information in line with school policies.
