Job summary

East Kent Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Deputy Chief Finance Officer - Governance to lead Financial Services and ensure statutory duties are met. This role reports to the CFO and drives governance, risk management, and timely annual accounts.

The post requires a qualified accountant with extensive NHS and public sector experience, capable of leading large teams and complex financial programmes across multiple sites.

Qualifications

• Educated to degree level.
• Professional accountant (CCAB) with 10 years post qualification experience.
• Evidence of relevant continued professional development.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of Financial Services ensuring delivery of statutory financial duties including annual accounts and robust governance.
• Oversee the financial accounting framework and provide full accounting service to the Trust, its charity and subsidiaries.
• Provide leadership for Cash, Financing, Capital and Working Capital management in annual and longer-term plans.
• Lead and develop the Financial Services team to high performance; encourage autonomy and best practice.
• Ensure the Trust’s financial position is reported accurately to internal and external stakeholders to support robust decisions.
• Lead preparation and submission of the Trust’s Annual Accounts through to External Audit sign-off.
