RVT GROUP in Sheffield is seeking a hands-on Goods-In/ yard operative to check in returned equipment, decontaminate, and hand over to the workshop. You’ll inspect items, tag and record issues, and keep the wash bay, yard and workshop area tidy and safe.

You will start at 7:30am, five days a week on site, with forklift and COSHH/decontamination procedures training provided. A positive, safety-first approach is essential, with good attention to detail.

Formación

• Hands-on experience in goods-in, returns, a yard, plant or tool hire depot, wash bay, valeting, recycling or a similar physical role.
• A good eye for detail and accurate record-keeping.
• A safety-first attitude and willingness to follow procedures.

Responsabilidades

• Receive and book in equipment returning from client sites, checking it against delivery paperwork and our system
• Inspect every item for damage, knocks, nicks and missing parts; photograph, tag and record what you find
• Decontaminate and pressure-wash returned kit, removing dust, concrete and slurry
• Follow COSHH and decontamination procedures, wearing PPE and RPE
• Hand clean equipment over to the workshop team with clear notes
• Move equipment safely around the yard and warehouse (forklift training provided)
• Keep the wash bay, goods-in area and yard clean, tidy and hazard-free
• Load and unload vehicles and support wider yard duties
• Report any safety hazards, near misses or maintenance issues straight away

About the role

Every piece of RVT equipment that goes back out to a client site starts its journey in goods-in. When kit comes back from construction and industrial sites, you’ll be the person who checks it in, cleans it down and makes sure our workshop team receives it in a safe, ready-to-work condition. It’s a hands-on role that keeps our yard, wash bay and workshop clean, safe and running smoothly.

What you’ll do

• Receive and book in equipment returning from client sites, checking it against delivery paperwork and our system
• Inspect every item for damage, knocks, nicks and missing parts; photograph, tag and record what you find so the workshop knows exactly what needs attention
• Decontaminate and pressure-wash returned kit, removing dust, concrete and slurry
• Follow our asbestos, COSHH and decontamination procedures, wearing the correct PPE and RPE every time
• Hand clean equipment over to the workshop team with clear notes
• Move equipment safely around the yard and warehouse (forklift training provided)
• Keep the wash bay, goods-in area and yard clean, tidy and hazard-free
• Load and unload vehicles and support wider yard duties when needed
• Report any safety hazards, near misses or maintenance issues straight away

What you’ll bring

• Hands-on experience in goods-in, returns, a yard, plant or tool hire depot, wash bay, valeting, recycling or a similar physical role
• A good eye for detail and accurate record-keeping (handheld scanners or simple systems)
• A safety-first attitude and happy to follow procedures to the letter
• Comfortable with physical, wet and dusty work, indoors and outdoors in all weathers
• Reliable timekeeping for a 7:30am start, five days a week on site in Sheffield
• Nice to have: counterbalance forklift licence, CSCS card, asbestos awareness or COSHH training – we’ll train you if not
