Job summary

SoCode Limited in Cambridge is seeking a contract engineer for a 6-month role, working 2 days per week on site. The candidate will administer NetApp storage in production, support Linux HPC environments, and develop automation using Python. Experience with Terraform/Ansible and IT operations is preferred.

The position is Inside IR35 with a day rate of £650-£730. Candidates should be able to operate in a Linux-based, scalable production environment and contribute to reliable system operations.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Administering NetApp storage platforms in production environments.
• Experience with Linux operating system and supporting large-scale Linux HPC environments, including file and object storage.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or configuration tools such as Ansible.
• Ability to develop automation or tooling using a programming language such as Python.
• Experience supporting reliable and scalable systems in an operational environment.

Nice To Have Skills and Experience:

• Familiarity with AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Exposure to CI/CD or Git-based workflows.
• Experience using or integrating AI/ML or agent-based tooling in operations.
• Understanding of identity, access control, and security practices.
• Experience with OpenStack storage services such as Cinder or Manila.
• Awareness of service management approaches (e.g. ITIL)
