Based at Mandarin Oriental Corporate Office within the Commercial, Media Partnership Department in London, the Global Social Media Director will lead the company's global social media strategy, overseeing the brand's presence across all major platforms and ensuring best-in-class execution at both corporate and hotel levels.
This role manages global social media accounts, provides strategic oversight for hotel-level social activity, and leads the global social media agency to drive engagement, brand affinity, and business impact. The ideal candidate will have expertise in luxury hospitality, digital content strategy, influencer marketing, and performance analytics, with the ability to align social media with broader marketing and commercial goals.
Key Responsibilities
Global Social Media Strategy & Hotel Alignment
- Develop and implement a global social media strategy that enhances Mandarin Oriental's position as a leading luxury hospitality brand, supporting brand awareness and revenue objectives.
- Oversee corporate social media channels, ensuring consistent storytelling, luxury positioning, and brand voice across platforms including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, WeChat, RED, and emerging platforms.
- Manage and guide hotel social media teams to align with global brand standards while allowing localized storytelling.
- Lead the social media agency in executing innovative campaigns, optimizing performance, and ensuring strategic alignment across owned, earned, and paid social channels.
- Serve as the primary liaison between corporate and hotel marketing teams, providing best practices, training, and governance.
Content Creation & Storytelling
- Oversee social content production, including social shoots, campaigns, and real-time content to enhance engagement and desirability.
- Create a content calendar integrating brand campaigns, hotel moments, partnerships, and guest experiences.
- Collaborate with creative teams and partners to produce high-quality, visually compelling content reflecting luxury aesthetics.
- Identify opportunities for real-time engagement leveraging cultural moments and industry trends.
Influencer & Brand Ambassador Strategy
- Define and lead influencer partnerships with high-impact creators, celebrities, and tastemakers aligned with brand values.
- Manage relationships with content creators and influencers to ensure authentic advocacy and measurable impact.
- Oversee hotel influencer initiatives, ensuring consistency, ROI measurement, and adherence to brand guidelines.
- Develop an ongoing influencer engagement strategy to boost brand awareness among high-net-worth travelers.
Performance & Paid Strategy
- Collaborate with the media team to integrate social media into paid media strategies, optimizing budgets and impact.
- Oversee social ad placements, targeting, creative execution, and alignment with business goals.
- Use data-driven insights for content optimization, social listening, sentiment analysis, and performance metrics.
- Create reporting frameworks tracking KPIs like engagement, reach, sentiment, and conversions.
Hotel Social Media Oversight & Best Practices
- Provide training, resources, and governance to maintain high standards across hotel social media activities.
- Develop toolkits, playbooks, and content guidelines for hotel teams.
- Establish review processes for hotel social activity, offering strategic recommendations.
- Facilitate knowledge-sharing sessions on trends, initiatives, and best practices.
Industry Partnerships & Innovation
- Manage relationships with social media platforms, securing partnerships and beta opportunities.
- Explore emerging platforms and technologies to keep Mandarin Oriental at the forefront of digital innovation.
Budget & Resource Management
- Oversee the global social media budget, ensuring strategic investment across content, influencers, paid media, and innovation.
- Optimize resource allocation based on performance insights.
- Align social media investments with broader brand and commercial strategies.
