Job summary

HSB is seeking a Global Safety Specialist in the UK to support the Corporate Safety Program within the Global Inspection & Engineering Services division. You will assist the Director of Global Safety in managing safety initiatives, coordinating training, and ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations across sites.

The role requires a BS in Industrial Safety (or equivalent), OSHA instructor credentials, and experience in an industrial setting.

Qualifications

  • BS in Industrial Safety or related field or comparable work experience.
  • Certified OSHA 500 and 501 instructor, to be obtained within first year of employment.
  • Associate Safety Professional or Certified Safety Professional designation, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manage engineering equipment programs including PPE, respirators, fall protection and related safety gear.
  • Conduct live and online safety training sessions for staff and contractors.
  • Develop training content and e-learning materials; coordinate online learning options.
  • Review OSHA logs and support site access safety questionnaires.
  • Investigate injuries/illness and near misses; perform Root Cause Analysis.
  • Travel internationally as needed to support global safety initiatives.

Job Purpose

This is a specialist-level position within HSB’s Corporate Safety Department for an individual holding a BS and preferably additional safety education or designations or with comparable field experience as it relates to the development or betterment of a safety program. The prime responsibility is to assist the Director of Global Safety in managing the Corporate Safety Program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and support engineering equipment programs including but not limited to the following:
  • Personal dosimeter radiation monitoring program
  • PPE
  • Respirator
  • Fall Protection
  • Confined space monitors
  • Other current and future equipment needs
  • Conduct training classes both live and virtually including: driver, new hire, refresher, equipment specific and other specific training
  • Assist in the develop of content for training presentations and learning materials
  • Work with other departments to develop on-line learning options
  • Supporting, coordinating and reporting on Corporate Safety Metrics
  • Conduct safety contract reviews and assist with the completion of site access safety questionnaires
  • Conduct and support injury/illness and near miss investigations including becoming RCA qualified to conduct Root Cause Analysis investigations

Review and finalize OSHA logs

  • Supporting and coordinating site access requirements including drug tests, site specific safety training and other safety specific requirements
  • Manage safety equipment inventory and ordering processes
  • Assist with and monitor the data entry into our safety database to maintain accurate records
  • Work with the Safety Team to meet
Essential
  • Several years working experience in an industrial setting.
  • Working experience with OSHA regulations; additional regulatory/industry affiliated bodies preferred
  • Experience to include international safety, confined space entry of boilers and/or pressure vessels, contract management, fleet and exposure control
Desirable
  • Good presentation skills including ability to build training presentations and work with international audiences
  • Analyze local and industry safety trends for the purpose of adjusting internal safety programs to meet new threats
Additional Skills and Responsibilities
  • Ability to prepare clear, concise and informative written communications.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team to develop and deliver safety programs and trainings
  • Willingness to travel extensively, including international destinations
  • Excellent customer service skills demonstrated by listening, taking ownership, following up and providing positive customer interaction with global clients
Qualifications & Educational Requirements

BS in Industrial Safety or related field or comparable work experience

Certified OSHA 500 and 501 instructor, Certified Defensive Driving Instructor to be obtained within first year of employment

Associate Safety Professional or Certified Safety Professional designation, preferred
