Job summary

Arbex is seeking a Global Privacy Counsel within its Legal & Compliance team to advise on data protection matters across multiple markets. You will partner with stakeholders in commercial, digital, supply chain, procurement, HR and innovation to deliver risk-based privacy solutions that enable growth.

The role involves leading privacy assessments, DPIAs, and training while ensuring compliance with GDPR and UK GDPR across jurisdictions. Hybrid model for UK-based candidates.

Qualifications

  • Fluent English in professional settings.
  • Strong knowledge of GDPR and UK GDPR.
  • Experience advising on commercial contracts and data-sharing arrangements.
  • Experience in international privacy matters and regulatory inquiries.

Responsibilities

  • Provide practical, commercially focused legal advice on privacy and data protection matters across the IFP business.
  • Support compliance with GDPR, UK GDPR, and other applicable privacy regulations across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Lead and contribute to Privacy-by-Design reviews and privacy assessments for new products, platforms, campaigns, and business initiatives.
  • Advise stakeholders on DPIAs, lawful processing, transparency obligations, data retention, information security, and data governance.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate data protection and information security provisions in commercial, procurement, technology, and intra-group agreements.
  • Support international data transfer assessments and implementation of appropriate safeguards.
  • Assist in managing privacy incidents, investigations, regulatory inquiries, and audit activities.
  • Deliver privacy training, awareness initiatives, and governance improvements that strengthen organizational compliance and enable business growth.

As the Global Privacy Counsel joining our Legal & Compliance team, you will serve as a trusted advisor to the business on data protection and privacy matters, helping teams navigate complex regulatory requirements while enabling innovation, growth and responsible data use. You will partner with stakeholders across commercial, digital, supply chain, procurement, HR and innovation functions to deliver pragmatic, risk-based solutions aligned with business objectives.

You will report directly to the Head of Compliance and will be an individual contributor (no direct reports).

Location

we can offer a hybrid model (on remote / Office) for candidates already based in the UK.

Key Responsibilities

To succeed in this role, you will need the following qualifications:

Required Qualifications
  • Qualification as a solicitor, attorney or equivalent legal professional.
  • Significant post-qualification experience, including substantial exposure to privacy and data protection law.
  • Strong working knowledge of GDPR, UK GDPR, and privacy compliance frameworks.
  • Experience advising on commercial contracts, data sharing arrangements and international data transfers.
  • Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working within an international organization and/or leading law firm.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate effectively across cultures, functions and geographies.
  • Fluent English
