Job summary

Hill Robinson is seeking an enthusiastic Technical Procurement Officer to oversee day-to-day purchasing and shipping activities. You will source and purchase quality products from a vetted supplier base, ensuring procurement processes are followed from requisition to dispatch and global delivery.

This role requires collaboration with multiple departments, strong attention to detail, excellent communication, and the ability to analyse procurement data for cost-saving opportunities.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of technical purchasing experience within maritime sectors.
• Experience with ship machinery, engine components and deck/engine stores.
• Proficiency in ERP systems (Oracle, SAP, Mariapps or Amos/Link Maritime) and MS Excel.
• Strong cross-cultural communication and resilience in a fast-paced environment.
• Attention to detail and ability to collaborate with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with procurement policies and procedures.
• Prepare and process purchase orders and requisitions.
• Resolve procurement issues or discrepancies.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand procurement needs.
• Analyse procurement data to identify trends and improvements.
• Arrange collection and shipping of orders and follow through to delivery.
• Sourcing: requisitions for ship machinery, propulsion, safety gear, and navigation systems.
• Vendor management: evaluate, select, audit marine suppliers on quality, pricing, and delivery.
• Contract negotiation: negotiate terms and lead times to match vessel schedules.
• Logistics & delivery: coordinate worldwide shipping, customs clearances, port calls.
• Compliance & quality: ensure purchased spares meet IMO, flag state, class rules.
• Claims & resolution: handle damaged goods, replacements or credit notes.
