Job description

LOGISTICS MANAGER JOB DESCRIPTION:

Our client is seeking a Logistics Manager with extensive experience in International / Global supply chain management. Essential skills include export and import expertise, and confidence in establishing and working with 3PL / 4PL providers. As part of a strategic growth phase, our client is expanding their global footprint and requires an experienced Logistics Manager to define the role, identify opportunities for optimizing existing 3PL / 4PL agreements, and further develop their worldwide supply chain network.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manage the selection, onboarding, and oversight of 3PL and 4PL partners globally.
  • Review and enhance processes related to stock in transit, shortages, and inventory management at UK and remote depots, aiming to improve service levels and customer satisfaction.
  • Handle depot transfers and replenishments, including sales orders, picking slips, dangerous goods notes, import/export documentation, and commercial invoices.
  • Ensure continuous availability of stock and critical consumables.
  • Source and negotiate contracts for new supplies worldwide, and lead the onboarding of logistics partners.
  • Identify and implement efficiencies within the distribution network.
  • Manage stock in transit to achieve 100% OTIF (On Time In Full) delivery performance.
  • Optimize distribution costs while balancing direct-to-customer delivery from manufacturers.
  • Balance distribution expenses across manufacturing and depot networks, supporting agile logistics solutions.
  • Monitor truck and container tracking, and develop contingency plans.
  • Oversee end-to-end logistics processes, including scheduling, depot transfers, load planning, liaising with port agents, and ensuring successful delivery.
  • Manage DGN and hazardous freight, addressing challenges proactively.
  • Maintain regular supplier and product data management.
  • Conduct monthly/quarterly 3PL stock audits.
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
  • Strong background in supply chain management or logistics, preferably within complex, multi-site environments.
  • Proven experience managing 3PL/4PL partnerships.
  • Comprehensive understanding of import/export and global freight operations.
  • Strategic thinker with attention to operational details.
  • Commercially savvy with a customer-focused approach, capable of building lasting relationships internally and externally.
  • Results-driven with high standards for professionalism.
  • Resilient, adaptable, and agile in high-pressure situations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive attitude.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and capable of leading teams towards shared objectives.
