Job summary

AXA XL in London is seeking an Underwriter I for International Wholesale Liability. You will deliver a profitable underwriting service, manage risk submissions, and maintain broker/client relationships with a focus on casualty and liability lines.

You will report to the Underwriting Manager and collaborate across internal teams to optimize risk sharing, pricing, and policy terms in a dynamic global market. This role demands strong analytical and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Casualty under-writing experience and knowledge of Casualty/Liability.
• Progression through underwriting roles with authority.
• Analytical, negotiation and sales skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication.
• Interpersonal skills to build insured and broker contacts.
• Ability to develop and understand business processes, strategy and planning.

Responsibilities

• Review submissions including applications, policy wording, inspection reports, loss runs, and financial reports.
• Calculate appropriate risk premium considering risk costs, reinsurance, and costs while ensuring profitability.
• Proactively advising, assisting, servicing and following up with clients on insurance and risk management matters.
• Maintain effective relationship management to cross-sell products and retain accounts.
• Coordinate with internal teams to determine appropriate reinsurance for risk placements.
• Review loss control reports and process endorsements as needed.
• Support business planning and forecasting; monitor financial exposure and premiums.
• Maintain awareness of claims and provide input on settlements.
