Job summary

Azenta Life Sciences is seeking a Global Freight Procurement & RFQ Lead to drive a full diagnostic of the company's worldwide freight spend and provider base. The role will challenge current arrangements and run a comprehensive RFQ/RFP process to secure cost and service improvements.

The six-month contract is remote with frequent site visits to Wotton, Surrey, and requires close collaboration with Operations, Procurement and Finance to deliver a robust freight strategy and a clear implementation

Qualifications

• Strong experience in freight procurement, logistics sourcing and carrier management.
• Proven track record leading RFQ/RFP processes from data preparation to supplier selection.
• Analytical capability to interpret freight spend, rate structures and service data.
• Knowledge of international freight, carriers, couriers and global transport models.
• Ability to translate analysis into a practical business case and cost savings.

Responsibilities

• Map current global freight activity, lanes, volumes and modes.
• Analyze freight spend across regions to identify savings opportunities.
• Evaluate supplier performance on cost, delivery reliability and service.
• Benchmark pricing and terms against external market data.
• Develop RFQ/RFP strategy, data pack, scoring criteria and timelines.
• Lead supplier Q&A, bid clarifications and final evaluations.
• Provide a clear business case with cost savings and implementation plan.
• Define KPIs, governance and reporting cadence to sustain improvements.
