Job summary

Smiths Detection is seeking an experienced Global Sustainability Manager to shape and deliver our sustainability and ESG strategy across international operations. Reporting to the Head of HSE & Sustainability, you will drive environmental performance, regulatory compliance and responsible business practices with visibility at the senior level.

You will partner with cross-functional teams to embed sustainability in business processes, manage carbon accounting and disclosures, and support supplier

Qualifications

• Degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience in manufacturing/industrial/tech environments with sustainability focus.
• Strong knowledge of ESG frameworks: GHG Protocol, CDP, TCFD, ISSB, CSRD.
• Hands-on carbon accounting and emissions management.
• Experience with environmental compliance: REACH, RoHS and related product legislation.
• Excellent project management and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Experience working in global, matrix organisations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement Smiths Detection's sustainability and ESG strategy.
• Drive decarbonisation, circularity, and environmental impact reduction initiatives.
• Lead carbon emissions, energy efficiency, waste reduction, and water management programmes.
• Manage carbon accounting and emissions reporting per GHG Protocol.
• Support science-based target development and implementation.
• Lead ESG disclosures and reporting requirements (CSRD, ISSB, CDP, TCFD).
• Coordinate REACH, RoHS, SCIP and other environmental compliance activities.
• Collaborate with Procurement, Engineering, Operations, Quality, Finance and HR to embed sustainability.
• Support supplier sustainability programmes and responsible sourcing.
• Improve ESG data quality, management systems and reporting capabilities.
• Support ISO 14001 and related assurance activities.
• Monitor emerging sustainability regulations and organisational readiness.
• Develop meaningful sustainability reporting for senior leadership.
