Job summary

Colt Data Centre Services is seeking a Global Director of Engineering to lead the global engineering function, ensuring that engineering enables growth, customer propositions and successful delivery of data centre capacity across Colt's global portfolio.

The role owns the Global Reference Design (GRD) and ensures it remains relevant to current and future customer requirements, market trends and technology developments, while balancing commercial outcomes with technical decisions.

Qualifications

• Significant senior engineering leadership experience in hyperscale or data centre environments.
• Strong understanding of data centre design, construction, commissioning and operations.
• Experience implementing engineering standards, reference designs and governance across multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Global Engineering organisation across Mechanical, Electrical, Controls, Architecture and related disciplines.
• Continuously evolve the Engineering size, structure and geographic footprint to support growth and new markets.
• Attract and retain high-calibre engineering talent and build succession plans.
• Establish clear engineering governance and decision-making frameworks.
• Own and evolve the Global Reference Design (GRD) and test new technologies for customer value.
• Support early-stage site assessment, feasibility and development decisions with engineering input.
• Balance technical excellence with commercial outcomes, focusing on time to market and CAPEX.
• Provide engineering leadership at key project decision points and manage technical risks.
