Job summary

The Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS) is seeking a forward-thinking Conservation Programme Manager to oversee international field projects from Edinburgh Zoo. You will lead a team of Conservation Project Officers, manage budgets, and collaborate with partners to deliver measurable outcomes for biodiversity and conservation impact.

Based in Edinburgh, you will monitor and evaluate the Conservation Strategy, liaise with stakeholders, and represent RZSS at external meetings while ensuring

Qualifications

• BSc or equivalent in science, conservation or related field.
• Experience managing conservation research projects across ex-situ, in-situ and reintroduction.
• Strong data handling and field monitoring knowledge.
• Experience managing project budgets with funder requirements.

Responsibilities

• Plan long-term strategic development of international RZSS conservation projects.
• Design and deliver conservation projects aligning with strategic objectives.
• Oversee all international project support activities.
• Coordinate partners, volunteers, researchers, and external contractors.
• Represent Conservation at external meetings and with stakeholders.
• Handle monitoring data and storage systems, and contribute to evaluation of conservation strategy.
• Lead and develop the project team, manage HR processes and performance.
