Job summary

Arup seeks a Concrete Materials Specialist to strengthen our concrete materials discipline within the Materials team. You will provide technical input on concrete technology, durability, and low carbon strategies, and support projects globally.

Ideally you will have a degree in civil/structural/materials engineering and a strong background in durability, service-life modelling, and reporting. Occasional travel and collaboration with international clients are encouraged.

Qualifications

• Educated to degree level in civil, structural or materials engineering.
• Strong foundation in concrete technology, standards and construction.
• Knowledge of durability, deterioration mechanisms and service-life modelling.
• Understanding of low carbon concrete and cementitious materials.
• Strong report writing and presentation skills; able to engage with technical groups.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical advisory input across concrete technology, durability and low carbon strategies.
• Contribute to research projects and support innovative approaches to concrete.
• Work across buildings and infrastructure projects from advisory to project teams.
• Help clients optimise performance and life cycle management of concrete assets.
• Collaborate with internal and external clients globally, with occasional overseas travel.
