Job summary

Arup is seeking a Concrete Materials Specialist to join our Materials team within the Specialist Technology, Analytics and Research group. You will provide expert input on concrete technology, durability, and low-carbon strategies while supporting global client projects.

You will contribute to research, engage with standards bodies, and work across diverse buildings and infrastructure assignments, with occasional overseas travel.

Qualifications

• Degree in civil, structural or materials engineering; doctorate advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of concrete technology, standards and construction.
• Knowledge of concrete durability and service-life modelling.
• Understanding of low carbon concrete and cementitious materials.
• Excellent report writing and presentation skills; able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical advisory input across concrete technology and durability.
• Contribute to research projects and support innovative approaches.
• Work across buildings and infrastructure projects from advisory to teams.
• Help clients optimise performance and life-cycle management of concrete assets.
• Collaborate with internal/external clients globally; travel when required.
