We are looking to expand our current Glaucoma Ophthalmic Technician team within the department to support a busy and reputable ophthalmic department.
Main responsibilities include:
- Assisting the multidisciplinary team to provide an efficient and effective ophthalmic service.
- Performing ophthalmic investigations such as visual field and acuity testing, and eye pressure checks to assess patients' visual function.
- Conducting ocular imaging, supporting daily clinic activities within the Glaucoma department, and leading technician-led clinics independently.
- Assisting medical teams in providing gold standard patient care.
- Meeting and interacting with patients professionally and courteously.
Additional duties include:
- Carrying out Humphrey Visual Field testing to a high standard, respecting patient dignity and privacy.
- Testing and recording visual acuity.
- Instilling eye drops after completing a competency course under supervision.
- Taking images using the Ocular Coherence Tomographer (OCT) and Non-Mydriatic Fundus imaging.
- Performing delegated procedures such as ORA, Icare, pachymetry, and auto refractor measurements, once trained and competent.
- Supporting emergency and outpatient clinical teams, including setting up and clearing the department, with flexible shifts and cross-site work at UHCW and St Cross Hospital.
