BluePearl Pet Hospital in Malvern, PA is hiring an exceptional Veterinary Technician in Ophthalmology

As an Ophthalmology Veterinary Technician, you will help diagnose and treat ophthalmic diseases in companion animals.

Pay: $ - $ / hour

This pay band is a starting point and depends on experience and advancement through the CareerTrax leveling system.

Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience.

We offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked during nights and weekends.

*Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum.

Examples include:

Mon – Fri: 6pm to 8am = shift differential

Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = shift differential

Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = shift differential

Responsibilities include:

  • Perform basic ophthalmic diagnostic tests (tear quantity, glaucoma testing, ulcer testing) and help hold patients for detailed ocular exams.
  • Perform advanced ophthalmic diagnostic testing (retinal electrical function, etc.).
  • Set up and assist with procedures and surgeries to restore comfort and vision, ranging from outpatient procedures to complex surgeries.
  • Examples of outpatient procedures: diamond burr debridement, CO2 laser removal of eyelid margin masses.
  • Surgical procedures include eyelid surgeries, cherry eye surgery, corneal grafts, cataract surgery, retinal surgery, glaucoma surgery.
  • For sedation or anesthesia cases, place IV catheters and fluids, administer drugs via various routes, and monitor sedation/anesthesia, including advanced skills like CRIs, paralytics, ventilation.
  • Anesthesia training is available with our anesthesia specialist.
  • Help organize and maintain ophthalmic equipment and supplies.
  • Educate clients on their pet’s ocular health and care.
