Job summary

Stockport NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for a Consultant Ophthalmologist to further develop the Glaucoma service within the Ophthalmology Department. The role combines outpatient clinics, surgical interventions and laser treatments with ongoing professional development.

You will contribute to casualty reviews, general ophthalmology assessments, teaching, research, service development and governance. The post requires leadership of junior staff and participation in appraisal.

Qualifications

• Essential: ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Essential: ability to form good professional relationships with all departments and to work in a multi-disciplinary team.
• Essential: experience supervising junior medical staff and other disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Develop glaucoma care within the Ophthalmology Department and deliver high-quality care in clinics, surgery and laser treatments.
• Supervise junior staff, provide training, and contribute to CPD locally and nationally.
• Participate in clinical audit and annual appraisal processes.
• Ensure compliance with professional guidelines and keep up to date with best practice.
• Contribute to casualty reviews, general ophthalmology reviews, teaching, and service development.
