Job summary

Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a six-month locum consultant in glaucoma for the ophthalmology department at the Winchester site. The post focuses on leading and developing the glaucoma service with a strong emphasis on patient care, in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team and junior staff.

The role requires FRCOphth or equivalent and GMC registration, with eligibility for the Specialist Register or within six months of CCT at interview.

Qualifications

• FRCOphth or equivalent qualification.
• Full GMC registration and on the Specialist register, or within 6 months of CCT at interview.
• Experience in cataract surgery and all aspects of ophthalmology.
• Training and experience in a glaucoma subspecialty area.
• Completed a full training programme.
• Experience of and participation in clinical audit.

Job description

A six-month locum consultant post in glaucoma within the ophthalmology department of Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, based at the Winchester site. The consultant will help lead the glaucoma service there and develop it further, with a focus on patient care and working alongside a multidisciplinary team and junior staff. The department spans three sites and runs a virtual screening service for glaucoma follow-ups. Fit depends on FRCOphth or equivalent and GMC specialist registration, or being within six months of CCT.
