Job summary

The People Pod is seeking a Glass/Glazing Production Manager to lead a high-volume manufacturing operation at our Bolton site. You will drive significant production growth, champion improvement initiatives, and ensure quality and safety standards across the shop floor.

The role requires proven leadership of medium-sized teams, strong Lean Six Sigma knowledge, and hands-on experience with IT tools such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint. AOS safety training and ISO experience are a plus.

Qualifications

• Production Manager with experience in high-volume glass/glazing environments.
• Strong knowledge of Lean Six Sigma practices.
• IOSH Managing Safely training and risk assessment experience.

Responsibilities

• Actively champion production on-site and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Manage all production resources to ensure efficient production while meeting H&S and quality specs.
• Ensure glass and glazing products meet customer expectations and are produced right first time.
• Plan and organise work-flows to meet deadlines and optimise output.
• Oversee the production team's labour budget and equipment effectiveness.
• Lead performance reviews for Shift Managers and develop a multi-skilled team.

Glass Production Manager

Due to substantial investment and ongoing expansion, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, hands-on Glass/Glazing Production Manager to join a well-established manufacturer experiencing remarkable growth. Based at our Head Office, the ideal candidate will lead a production team to significantly increase glass and glazing production volumes by 40% to 60%.

Glass/Glazing Production Manager Responsibilities

• Actively champion production on-site and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Manage all production resources to ensure efficient production activities, while adhering to Health, Safety, and Environmental compliance requirements and meeting product and process quality specifications.
• Support the site in ensuring all glass and glazing products are manufactured right the first time, in line with customer expectations.
• Ensure routine production tasks and objectives are completed within agreed time frames.
• Plan and organise work-flows efficiently.
• Oversee and manage the production team's labour budget.
• Take accountability for equipment effectiveness, root cause problem-solving, and rapid improvement initiatives.
• Ensure timely and efficient rectification of any non-conforming products.
• Maintain high levels of housekeeping on the shop floor at all times.
• Conduct performance reviews for Shift Managers and foster a positive team spirit within the production unit and across functions.
• Recruit, train, coach, and develop a multi-skilled production team to fabricate glass and glazing products.
• Maintain all KPI departmental information and promote best practice principles in the workplace to achieve output targets.The working week is from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm but can be flexible for the right candidate.

Glass/Glazing Production Manager Profile

As the Glass/Glazing Production Manager, you will demonstrate the following skills and experience:

• Successful career as a Production Manager within a high-volume glass/glazing production environment.
• Excellent knowledge of Lean Six Sigma practices.
• Effective leadership of medium-sized teams.
• Thorough knowledge of IT systems with proficient skills in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint packages.
• Ideally trained to IOSH Managing Safely, with previous experience of conducting risk assessments in the workplace and documenting safe working procedures.
• Experience in maintaining ISO accreditation.
• Experience in change management and working in a lean manufacturing environment.
• HNC/HND or above in an Engineering discipline.
