Job summary

University of Southampton is recruiting a GIS Technician to support data capture, analysis and map production using ESRI and QGIS. You will assist with data management in multiple environments and contribute to GIS training activities and outside-office surveys.

The role is suitable for individuals with a geography interest who are keen to learn digital mapping tools and support a diverse project portfolio across environment, health, transport and education sectors.

Qualifications

• Experience of data input using Excel and analysing data and presenting summary information in a clear format.
• Familiarity with GIS tools such as ESRI or QGIS is preferred.
• Willingness to support GIS training courses and field surveys.

Responsibilities

• Assist the GIS team in data capture, data analysis and map production using ESRI and QGIS.
• Contribute to the organisation of GIS training courses and participate in surveys outside the office.
