We're looking for a GIS Technician to join our Transportation team based in Birmingham. Location: Birmingham

Hours: 40 hours per week

What will you be responsible for?

As GIS Technician, you'll be working within the Asset Management team, managing all highway asset information, using an asset management system and geographical information systems, as part of the Birmingham highways interim services contract being delivered by Kier.

Your Day To Day Will Include

• Capturing, managing and analysing highways asset maintenance data in GIS (ArcGIS and Confirm) from multiple sources and in a variety of formats both desktop and mobile orientated, georeferencing and digitising map data, preparing and maintaining data in ArcGIS Online Environments
• Semi-automation of cartographic workflow (Model builder/ Python), producing reports utilising data visualisation, presenting and explaining your findings helping support decision making
• Providing GIS expertise and support to other workstreams as needed, training and mentoring company personnel on the ArcGIS systems when required
• Being creative, introducing new ideas, knowledge sharing and suggestions improving what we do
• Undertaking and managing condition surveys of highway pavement assets using DVI, Grip Tester, SCANNER and Deflectograph
  
  

What are we looking for?

This role of GIS Technician is great for you if:

• You can demonstrate sound experience with ArcGIS Pro, digitisation, data capture, translation, data editing, manipulation, data querying, filtering and summarising (ArcGIS, MS Excel, MS Access etc.)
• Bring good reporting and presentation skills, must have excellent analytical, mapping, and problem-solving attributes
• Can work with a range of stakeholders with the ability to communicate in a technical and non-technical manner
