Job summary

Thames Water is hiring a GIS Specialist to join the System Insights team in Reading. You will analyse spatial datasets, deliver GIS-based analysis and support investment planning for major infrastructure projects.

You'll work with hydraulic modellers, data analysts and engineers, developing dashboards and visualisations while exploring automation and data science techniques. The role is hybrid, based at Reading sites, with 2–3 days in the office.

Qualifications

• Experience in GIS, spatial analytics or similar role.
• Experience using Esri ArcGIS or willingness to learn.
• Knowledge of spatial analysis, data visualization and geospatial modelling.

Responsibilities

• Analyse spatial and operational datasets to identify patterns.
• Deliver GIS-based analysis and modelling for investment planning.
• Define and prioritise AMP8 projects with team support.
• Develop dashboards and self-service tools for accessible insights.
• Support QA to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
• Collaborate with analysts, modellers and stakeholders.
• Explore automation and data science techniques to improve data use.
• Contribute to strategic programmes addressing climate, growth and resilience.
