We are seeking several talented and experienced GIS professionals as we build our in-house capability in this space.

We are looking for product-focused, results-oriented individuals who thrive in a collaborative, team-focused culture. You will work closely with product owners, data operations professionals, data analysts, product managers, business stakeholders, and your team to define, implement, and deliver significant, innovative improvements to our GIS platform and products.

Position: GIS Release Engineer

The GIS Release Engineer will oversee the deployment and release management of GIS applications and solutions within Thames Water. Responsibilities include planning, coordinating, and controlling the release processes to ensure efficient delivery with minimal disruption to business operations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Release Planning & Coordination:
   • Develop and manage GIS release schedules in collaboration with GIS Developers, Architects, and stakeholders.
   • Coordinate deployment activities to ensure timely and smooth releases.
   • Adhere to release management processes and industry best practices.
2. Change & Risk Management:
   • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with GIS releases.
   • Manage changes effectively, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
3. Quality Assurance & Deployment:
   • Conduct testing and validation to ensure quality and reliability.
   • Implement automation tools to enhance release efficiency.
   • Monitor deployments and address post-release issues.
4. Collaboration & Continuous Improvement:
   • Work with IT, developers, and support teams to streamline processes.
   • Maintain documentation for release procedures.
   • Continuously improve workflows for operational efficiency.

Location: Hybrid – Clearwater Court, Reading

Working Pattern: 36 hours/week, Monday to Friday

Minimum Requirements:

1. Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Computer Science, IT, or related field
2. Experience in release management or software deployment within GIS environments
3. Knowledge of version control, CI/CD pipelines, automation tools
4. Understanding of GIS technologies such as Esri ArcGIS, spatial databases, cloud GIS solutions
5. Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills
6. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
