Job summary

Esri in Cardiff is seeking a dedicated GIS professional to contribute to ArcGIS Maps SDKs and related data visualisation projects. You will join the R&D Center – Cardiff and help deliver regular, high-quality releases in a collaborative environment.

You should have 2+ years of GIS experience, familiarity with ArcGIS or QGIS, and basic coding skills. You will build sample apps, contribute to developer documentation, and engage with a global developer community.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of GIS experience in scientific, engineering, governmental, or academic settings.
• Proficiency with mapping, spatial data or GIS platforms such as ArcGIS or QGIS.
• Basic programming in modern languages to understand code structure.
• Strong problem-solving and analytic skills.
• Excellent communication and team collaboration abilities.
• Experience with scripting to support developer users.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field.
• United Kingdom work authorization.

Responsibilities

• Apply curious, independent thought and attention to detail to improve user experience.
• Gather requirements from developers and translate into code and documentation improvements.
• Build GIS datasets, maps, sample apps, and developer articles highlighting capabilities.
• Collaborate with Esri teams to design and validate GIS workflows and datasets.
• Describe GIS best practices and share insights in forums, events, or publications.
• Document technical topics and produce developer-focused documentation.
• Learn and collaborate in SDK environments to explore issues and prototype enhancements.
• Create focused test code to represent complex scenarios for testing.
• Manage online GIS systems and services to support ongoing product releases.
