If you think you'd be a great fit for this role but you’re not sure you meet every requirement equally, we'd still welcome your application.

We would welcome applications from candidates who are seeking to work part time (4 days a week or more) or as part of a job share.

Interviews for this role are expected to take place w/c 7 September.

About the role

As a GIS Analyst, you will be responsible for the development, maintenance and continuous improvement of SYMCA’s Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and mapping platforms. The role leads delivery of GIS projects and spatial analysis focused on our housing, infrastructure, environment and energy priorities, ensuring analysis and systems support evidence-based decision-making.

Working across the organisation, you will develop geospatial insight, advise colleagues on the use of spatial data, and translate complex geographic information into accessible analysis and visualisations. The role helps our energy, environment, housing and infrastructure teams make effective use of location-based insight to improve planning, performance and service delivery.

You will be responsible for ensuring GIS systems, processes and mapping products are compliant, secure and fit for purpose. This includes managing relationships with external providers, maintaining business continuity documentation, supporting service improvement, and driving the adoption of innovative GIS solutions that meet local and national requirements.

About you

You are an experienced GIS professional with strong technical skills and a passion for using spatial data to solve problems and improve decision-making. You are confident working with GIS applications, databases and mapping platforms and can analyse complex information to produce clear and actionable insights.

You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand business requirements and develop practical solutions. You are comfortable communicating technical information to a range of audiences and can build positive working relationships with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

You are organised, proactive and able to manage your workload effectively, balancing competing priorities while maintaining high standards of accuracy and quality. You are committed to continuous improvement and enjoy identifying new ways to use data and technology to support organisational objectives.
