Job summary

Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council is seeking a knowledgeable GIS and Admin Support Supervisor to provide specialist GIS, systems administration and technical support across Planning & Public Protection within the Environment and Regeneration Directorate.

You will create, maintain, source, interpret and present spatial data; administer key systems; act as Address Custodian and OS Liaison Officer; and support IT systems and electronic information management.

Qualifications

• Substantial practical knowledge and experience of building construction.
• Experience of systems administration for database applications, preferably UNIFORM, with Microsoft Office skills.
• Knowledge of BS7666 and experience of managing, interpreting and presenting information accurately.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, written, verbal and graphic presentation skills.
• Ability to manage projects independently, work under pressure and meet deadlines in a small specialist team.
• Willingness to travel extensively throughout the County Borough.

Responsibilities

• Maintain Local Land and Property Gazetteer and act as contact for addressing matters.
• Administer and support mapping datasets; advise on Ordnance Survey products, licensing and copyright.
• Provide GIS support, analysis and training for Planning & Public Protection and other Council services as needed.
• Source, process, maintain, interpret and present geospatial data from external sources.
• Administer, manage and report from IT systems used by the Service; support electronic information management.
• Maintain service web pages, planning registers and weekly application lists; provide technical and administrative support.
