Overview

A Geotechnical Laboratory Technician position at Ian Farmer Associates (1998) Ltd, part of RSK Group Ltd, in an accredited UKAS geotechnical soil and materials laboratory.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of physical tests on soil, rock and aggregate samples to the highest level of safety and quality standards.
• Develop an understanding of the test methods and why samples are tested.
• Assist in the calibration and maintenance of all technical equipment.
• Maintain a clean and orderly laboratory environment.
• Ensure the quality of work produced is of high standards and tested in a timely manner.
• Manage sample receipt, storage and disposal.
• Perform frequent manual handling, moving heavy items frequently.

Required Experience

• 5+ GCSEs including English, Maths and Science.
• Previous experience in a geotechnical or materials testing lab.
• Good numeracy and literacy: able to write clearly and accurately.
• A good eye for detail, diligent in following procedures.
• Good IT skills, especially proficiency with MS Excel.
