Job summary

LSTC Group Ltd is seeking a Geotechnical Site Engineer to join our UK-wide project team. This field-based role blends desk study, site supervision, and reporting, with ongoing chartership development toward ICE or GSL.

You will supervise site activities, log soils, and support foundation design while liaising with clients. Regular travel to projects and our Tadcaster office is expected.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Geology, Geotechnical Engineering or a related field.
• At least 2 years' experience in ground investigation.
• Ideally, membership (or progress towards chartership) with ICE or GSL.
• A valid UK driving licence.
• Solid understanding of British Standards and Eurocode Design principles.
• Strong IT skills (MS Office essential; GIS tools like ArcGIS/QGIS a plus; CAD or geotechnical/structural software experience is a bonus).
• Excellent communication and report-writing skills, high attention to detail, and strong numeracy.
• A proactive, flexible, self-motivated approach — someone who thrives on variety and enjoys collaborating across disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Lead desk study, site reconnaissance, ground model development, and final reporting.
• Supervise subcontractors on site UK-wide, ensuring safety, on-time delivery, and budget control.
• Log and sample soils to British Standards; prepare factual and interpretive reports.
• Support foundation design in line with UK and client standards.
• Liaise with clients to agree deliverables and communicate progress.
• Prepare budgets, schedules, fees and programmes; submit progress reports.
• Review method statements and risk assessments; champion health and CDM compliance.
• Mentor junior engineers and travel to project sites, including office visits.
