Job Title:

Principal / Senior Geotechnical Design Engineer

Location:

Ivybridge, Devon

Salary:

Principal: £40,000 - £55,000 per annum

Senior: £32,000 - £40,000 per annum

Job Type:

Full-time, Permanent with an initial six-month probation period

Working hours:

37.5 hours/week - Monday to Friday (part time also considered)

We seek a Principal or Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our friendly team based in Ivybridge, Devon, working on a diverse range of exciting and challenging Geotechnical Design and Inspection projects across the beautiful Southwest region.

The Role:

The successful applicant will be responsible for providing technical and professional leadership as well as supporting others in the delivery of a range of Geotechnical engineering design works including the following:

  • Designing and detailing works such as soil nails, rock anchors, earth retention systems, sheet piles, secant piles, excavation support systems, foundations, ground improvement schemes, and temporary works.
  • Interpreting ground investigations, identifying ground risks, and providing mitigation solutions.
  • Preparing and reviewing technical reports, ensuring compliance with Eurocodes, British Standards, and current design codes.
  • Ensuring health and safety compliance on projects and promoting awareness.
  • Collaborating with civil and structural departments on cross-departmental projects.
  • Traveling to and attending sites for surveys, inspections, monitoring, and meetings.
  • Working with industry partners to meet client requirements.

About You:

Requirements:

  • Degree (MEng / BEng / BSc) in Civil or Structural Engineering with geotechnical modules.
  • Chartered status preferred but not essential.
  • 3-5 years of geo-structural design experience.
  • Proficiency in design software (AutoCAD, Masterseries, SCIA Engineer, WALLAP, QGIS, Civils 3D) is beneficial.
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Full driving license.
