Job summary

Akkodis is seeking an experienced Software Systems Architect to join its Geospatial Intelligence team in Guildford. The role focuses on designing and delivering advanced GIS, data exploitation and intelligence solutions that support government and defence missions.

You will work at the intersection of software architecture, geospatial technologies, cloud platforms and data services, collaborating with engineers, product owners and stakeholders to define scalable, secure architectures and data

Qualifications

Experience as a software/ systems/ solution architect or technical lead.
Strong background in software‑intensive, distributed architectures.
Experience with microservices, SOA, cloud technologies and API‑driven systems.
Knowledge of geospatial technologies, GIS platforms or location‑based data solutions.
Experience in defence/government/regulated environments is advantageous.
Familiarity with MBSE, UML, SysML or architecture frameworks would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

Lead the architecture and design of complex geospatial intelligence solutions.
Define scalable system architectures, interfaces, APIs and data flows across distributed environments.
Translate customer and operational requirements into robust technical solutions.
Drive architectural decisions across cloud‑native, service‑oriented and data‑centric platforms.
Support the integration of GIS capabilities and geospatial data processing pipelines.
Apply MBSE principles to ensure traceability and design integrity.
Champion security, performance, reliability and maintainability throughout the system lifecycle.
Collaborate with development, test and delivery teams during Agile programmes.
