Job description

Are you prepared to influence the future of climate risk management at J.P. Morgan? As a crucial part of our Climate, Nature and Social Risk team, you'll utilize your data and communication skills to improve our climate and nature risk data capabilities. This role provides a unique chance to contribute to a fast-growing field with significant visibility within the firm.

As a Geospatial Associate for the Climate, Nature and Social Risk team within the Climate Nature & Social team, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of data related to these domains. This includes collaborating with stakeholders such as business units, vendor organizations, technology teams, data scientists, other JPMC lines of business, applications, and governance functions. You will plan data requirements, establish capabilities for data validation, monitoring, access control, reporting, and ensure data quality. We seek a self-starter with a curious mind eager to learn and contribute to the firm's climate, nature, and social efforts.

Job responsibilities

  1. Work closely with business stakeholders and technology teams to gather, analyze, and translate requirements into technical specifications.
  2. Integrate and transform data assets across Climate Risk platforms to support analytics and reporting needs, ensuring data is structured for analysis and modeling.
  3. Follow data controls processes and governance practices in line with firm guidelines.
  4. Use data analytics and reporting tools to develop and maintain interactive reports and dashboards for the CN&S team.
  5. Become an expert in datasets used for climate and nature risk management, particularly geospatial data.
  6. Engage with stakeholders to present test results and research analyses, fostering effective communication and collaboration.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Expertise in data management, including ensuring data quality, completeness, and governance.
  • Knowledge of geospatial datasets, including shapefiles, rasters, and netcdfs.
  • Experience with GIS software such as QGIS/ArcGIS and geospatial analysis in Python/R.
  • Proficiency in developing data visualization techniques and tools like Tableau, Business Objects, Alteryx, or similar for interactive dashboards and reports.
  • Strong analytical skills for data mining and extracting insights.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Energetic, self-motivated, and effective under pressure, with an ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Experience in the financial industry or related fields is a plus.
  • Understanding of Agile methodologies, especially as part of a product owner team.
  • Familiarity with risk management practices and insights into Climate, Nature, and Social domains is highly valued.
