Job Description:

Are you prepared to influence the future of climate risk management at Morgan? As a crucial part of our Climate, Nature and Social Risk team, you'll utilize your data and communication skills to improve our climate and nature risk data capabilities. This role provides a unique chance to contribute to a fast-growing field with significant visibility within the firm.

As a Geospatial Associate for the Climate, Nature and Social Risk team, you will be responsible for managing data related to climate, nature, and social domains. This includes collaborating with stakeholders across business units, vendors, technology teams, data scientists, and governance functions. You will plan data requirements, establish data validation, monitoring, access control, reporting, and ensure data quality. We seek a self-starter with curiosity and eagerness to contribute to our climate, nature, and social initiatives.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Work with business stakeholders and technology teams to gather, analyze, and translate requirements into technical specifications.
  2. Integrate and transform data assets across Climate Risk platforms for analytics and reporting. Prepare and structure data for analysis and modeling.
  3. Follow data controls, governance practices, and firm guidelines.
  4. Use analytics and reporting tools to develop and maintain reports and dashboards for the CN&S team.
  5. Become an expert in datasets used for climate and nature risk management, especially geospatial data.
  6. Engage with stakeholders to present findings, research, and analyses, fostering effective communication and collaboration.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
  • Expertise in data management, quality, completeness, and governance.
  • Knowledge of geospatial datasets, including shapefiles, rasters, and netcdfs.
  • Experience with GIS software such as QGIS or ArcGIS, and geospatial analysis in Python or R.
  • Proficiency in data visualization platforms like Tableau, Business Objects, or Alteryx.
  • Strong analytical skills for data mining and insights extraction.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Energetic, self-motivated, and capable of working under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
  • Experience in the financial industry or related fields is advantageous.
  • Understanding of Agile methodologies, especially as a product owner.
  • Knowledge of risk management practices and familiarity with Climate, Nature, and Social domains.
