A leading company in civil engineering is seeking an enthusiastic Engineering Geologist or Geotechnical Engineer to join their Birmingham team. PJA is seeking an enthusiastic Engineering Geologist/Geotechnical Engineer/Geo-environmental Consultant to join our Ground Engineering and Contaminated Land Team, based in Birmingham.
The successful candidate will form part of a team of geologists, geotechnical specialists and geo-environmental consultants who pride ourselves on being able to offer robust assessments relating to geotechnical considerations and soil and groundwater contamination. In conjunction with the wider engineering team at PJA, we provide a diverse range of services from preliminary due diligence assessments associated with land acquisitions, to the design and oversight of effective holistic ground solutions to enable the development of both brownfield and greenfield sites for a range of clients.
The successful candidate should ideally have between 2 and 4 years’ relevant post-graduate experience and should be able to demonstrate a grounding in site investigation and/or consultancy. A keenness to learn about all areas of geotechnical assessment and contaminated land and their interface with land development is crucial. The ideal candidate should have experience in the use of ground investigation data management software such as HoleBASE or Openground, have excellent MS Word and Excel skills, and should embrace digital ways of working. Some experience of AutoCAD is also beneficial. The successful candidate will be required to prepare clear and concise reports and other written communications, and they should be able to demonstrate that they can achieve this to a good standard, while demonstrating good organisational skills and working to tight deadlines. Verbal communication is also of key importance, and the successful candidate will be able to confidently communicate with peers, more senior colleagues, contractors and clients.
Applicants will ideally have membership of a professional organisation such as the Geological Society or the ICE and should be demonstrating an ongoing commitment to Continuing Professional Development. This is a permanent position based in our Birmingham office, however the candidate should have a willingness to regularly travel to and from sites around the UK for site work and meetings.
