Penguin Recruitment is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join its growing team in Leicester. You will work on ground investigation projects across commercial, infrastructure and development sectors, contributing from field work to technical reporting.

The role involves both site and office duties, travel to sites, and a focus on safety, quality, and client liaison. A geotechnical background and driving licence are essential.

Qualifications

• Geotechnical/geoinvironmental consultancy experience preferred.
• Knowledge of ground investigation techniques and geotechnical assessment practices.
• Excellent report writing and communication skills.
• Full UK driving licence and willing to travel for site work.

Responsibilities

• Undertake and supervise ground investigation works across sites.
• Coordinate site operations and maintain technical standards.
• Log soil and rock samples per industry standards.
• Prepare factual and interpretative geotechnical reports.
• Assist with geotechnical risk assessments and foundation recommendations.
• Support Phase I/II site investigations where required.
• Manage subcontractors and site contractors during delivery.
• Monitor progress to meet deadlines and budgets.
• Maintain accurate project records and documentation.
• Liaise with clients, contractors and stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental procedures.

About the Role

A well-established multidisciplinary consultancy is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join its growing Enfield-based team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a wide range of geotechnical and ground investigation projects across commercial, infrastructure, and development sectors.

The successful candidate will play a key role in both field and office-based activities, supporting projects from initial site investigation through to technical reporting and project delivery.

Main Responsibilities

Requirements

• Degree qualified in Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology, Geology, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Strong knowledge of current geotechnical and environmental regulations.
• Excellent communication and report writing skills.
• Strong organisational skills and commercial awareness.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel for site work.
