Job summary

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust in Salisbury is inviting applications for a full-time Healthcare Science Assistant Practitioner within the Wessex Genomics Laboratory Service. The post is based at Salisbury District Hospital with potential relocation to Southampton in the future.

You will join a diagnostic team responsible for processing specimens, data analysis and genomic procedures, with supervision and opportunities to develop laboratory skills within the NHS.

Qualifications

• A level or equivalent in two of Maths, English and Science at A–C.
• ECDL or equivalent knowledge of computers.
• Previous experience in laboratory work.
• Knowledge of genomic processes.
• Desirable NHS environment experience.

Responsibilities

• Process a range of pathological specimens under supervision for screening and diagnostics.
• Capable of working under reduced supervision when necessary.
• Work flexible hours as determined by the service needs.
• Review the person specification document for shortlisting criteria.
• Understand day-to-day responsibilities in the job description and read attached documents.

Education

A level or equivalent in Maths/English/Science (two subjects)
