Job summary

Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust invites applications for a Business Administration Apprentice (Level 2) based in the Central Genomics Laboratory at St James’s University Hospital. The paid apprenticeship combines on‑the‑job training with external provider support to achieve a Level 2 Customer Service Practitioner qualification.

The role offers 37.5 hours per week, weekend/Bank holiday rotas, and a path to a substantive administrative role within the Trust upon completion.

Qualifications

• Eligibility: Level 2 or higher in Business Administration or Customer Service is not eligible for this training role.
• Shortlisted candidates will complete online Maths and English assessments followed by an Assessment Centre and interview.
• Fixed-term Apprenticeship (15 Months) within the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust laboratory setting.

Responsibilities

• Sample logistics and coordination for genomic samples across the region.
• Clinical documentation: issuing reports and uploading data to the booking system.
• Front-of-House & Reception support: greet visitors, answer queries, handle deliveries.
• Communication & triage of daily administrative emails.
• Transcribe meeting minutes and support quality management tasks.
