Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde invites an HCPC registered Clinical Scientist to join the Somatic Programme within Laboratory Genetics at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow. You will deliver genomic testing that informs cancer diagnosis, prognosis and targeted therapy.

Working in a multidisciplinary team of over 110 staff, you will lead interpretation, reporting, and validation of new technologies, while mentoring junior scientists and supporting service development across Scotland.

Qualifications

• HCPC registered clinical scientist with relevant genetics experience.
• Expertise in somatic genetics, molecular pathology or cancer genomics.
• Strong communication, organisational and team-working skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, interpret and report complex somatic genetic and genomic data.
• Authorize diagnostic reports informing personalised cancer treatment pathways.
• Provide specialist scientific advice to oncologists, haematologists, pathologists and other healthcare professionals.
• Participate in Duty Scientist activities and prioritise urgent cancer referrals.
• Supervise, train and support junior scientific staff.
• Lead service development, validation of new technologies and implementation of innovative genomic testing strategies.
