Ystwyth Medical Group in Wales is offering a sessional GP post within a teaching practice serving around 9,300 patients. The role covers routine and urgent consultations, home visits, on-call duties, and supervision of medical students and trainees. Partnership may be possible later within a multidisciplinary team including GP partners and advanced clinical pharmacists.

The candidate must hold GMC registration with a licence to practise and be on, or eligible for, the NHS Wales Performers List.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified General Practitioner.
• Evidence of ongoing CPD.
• GMC registration with a licence to practise.
• Included on the NHS Wales Performers List or eligible for inclusion.

Responsibilities

• Provide General Medical Services under the NHS GMS contract.
• Run surgery, telephone and home visit consultations, including on-call.
• Assess, diagnose and manage acute and chronic conditions.
• Prescribe safely in line with local and national guidance.
• Maintain accurate clinical records on EMIS.
• Participate in safeguarding for children and vulnerable adults.
• Engage in clinical governance, audits and quality improvement.
• Support undergraduate medical students and foundation and GP trainees.

Job description

The work covers routine and urgent consultations, home visits, on-call, management of acute and chronic conditions, results and referrals, and supervision of medical students and trainees. Sessions run at 4 to 6 a week, with partnership possible later, within a multidisciplinary team that includes GP partners and advanced clinical pharmacists. Applicants must hold GMC registration with a licence to practise and be on, or eligible for, the NHS Wales Performers List.

What the job involves

• Provide General Medical Services under the NHS GMS contract
• Run surgery, telephone and home visit consultations, including on-call
• Assess, diagnose and manage acute and chronic conditions
• Prescribe safely in line with local and national guidance
• Review results, make referrals and complete reports and correspondence
• Keep accurate, contemporaneous clinical records on EMIS
• Take part in safeguarding for children and vulnerable adults
• Take part in clinical governance, audits, quality improvement and significant event analysis
• Attend practice, LHB and cluster PT4L sessions
• Support undergraduate medical students and foundation and GP trainees
• Work with GP partners, salaried GPs, nurses, HCSWs and pharmacists
• Keep up mandatory training and appraisal, and comply with GMC standards
