We have an exciting opportunity for a General Practitioner to join our Healthcare team at HMP Wormwood Scrubs, a category B remand prison based in Hammersmith, near East Acton Station. You will be involved in segregation rounds and delivering high-quality healthcare services to patients with diverse needs, including long-term conditions, complex health issues, and substance misuse. You will also handle evening receptions for new patient intakes.

Hours

Friday 9am-10pm (3 sessions)

Saturdays 9am-10pm (3 sessions)

Salary

This part-time position offers an annual salary up to £120,000 per annum FTE, depending on experience.

Our General Practitioners are valued members of the Prison Healthcare community. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering first-class healthcare to a diverse patient group, with opportunities to develop skills in areas beyond standard practice or A&E environments.
  • Providing clinical assessments and diagnoses, making timely management decisions.
  • Offering expert support to other healthcare team members and actively participating in clinical governance activities.

Qualifications required

  • MBChB or MBBS
  • Inclusion on the GMC Register and GP Performers List
  • Evidence of annual appraisal engagement
  • Experience in community general practice
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development
  • Ability to work with patients with substance misuse history
  • RCGP Certificate in Substance Misuse 1 and 2, or willingness to undertake these qualifications
