An exciting opportunity has opened up here at Deerness Park Medical Group for a newly qualified (within the last 2 years) General Practitioner to join the team. This position is for 6 sessions per week, working across our two sites in Sunderland. You will be joining a great team led by 4 GP Partners and working alongside 3 salaried GPs. We look after 13,500 patients across the city and are part of the East PCN in Sunderland. We seek someone passionate about patient care and ready to take on additional responsibilities to support the partners.
At Deerness Park Medical Group, we pride ourselves on being a modern general practice. We use a clinical triage model for appointments and accessibility. You will work as part of the triage rota, making clinical decisions and assessing the urgency of appointment requests via our Econsult system.
Beyond triage, you will run your own clinics, managing acute, complex, and long-term health conditions. You will ensure the safety and effectiveness of patient care, managing all associated administrative tasks such as referrals and lab results.

We have a skilled and diverse team at Deerness Park, including 4 GP Partners, 3 salaried GPs, and 5 Advanced Clinical Practitioners. Our nursing team comprises a lead nurse, supported by 4 experienced nurses and 5 Healthcare Assistants. We also collaborate with PCN colleagues such as pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, mental health practitioners, and health coaches, supported by a wider administrative team.
We are committed to training and development, serving as a training practice for registrars and medical students. We provide support to help you establish your career as a GP.
Your role involves working within our modern practice model, including triage and clinic management. You will diagnose and treat patients, order and analyze tests, administer treatments, vaccinate, and advise on health maintenance and disease prevention.
